Cantilevered Side Table

Inscape were commissioned to design and build two side tables in a walnut finish to match other furnishings in this garden room.
The concept was to produce a table with a minimum base area and a top that could stand up to the rigours of day to day use whilst still displaying the elegance of the polished walnut it was to be constructed from.
Our design was of a cantilevered top counterbalanced at the base, weighted within the structure. For wear and tear we combined the walnut veneers with two polished glass sheets.
The test of the design was to be the clients cat and if the table could support it's weight without toppling over. The pictures tell the rest of the story.
