Kitchen and Bedroom

The two principal pieces of work in this flat were to redesign the existing kitchen. A small central space with no natural light and to refurbish the existing main bedroom maximising the available space.

The kitchen units were chosen to be light and storage units were fitted up to ceiling height. Natural wooden worktops and the use of mirrors at worktop level all helped to brighten the room and give a false sense of spaciousness.

In the bedroom the chief remit was to provide storage for the clients formidible collection of boots shoes and handbags. This was achieved by pivoting a new wall which served to seperate the rest of the room from a large recess. The back of the pivoting wall was amply supplied with pigeon hole space and the recess itself was fitted with hanging rails for wardrobe storage.

The success of the scheme was underlined when the client told us she had had to buy more bags and shoes to fill up the rest of the spaces.
