Impossible to tell from these pictures but we are looking into a former shop. it was a single space, a one room one window one door little shop. But now look at it...
This demonstrates the very real skills of the architect much more and to greater effect than the marvelous full scale constructions that win all the awards and gain all the publicity.
Below the shop was a cellar accessed by means of a ladder through a hatch in the floor.
The stair in this project connects the dusty cellar to the world of light and makes the conversion of this poky little space into a very livable flat possible. The success of this conversion is all about the success of the stair itself.
Designed by Craig Amy of Craig Amy Architects, the stair was mostly constructed on site by Inscape with the steel work installed by Bow Engineering of Broxburn.
