Circus Lane Stair

Circus Lane Stair

These are images of the spiral stair which Inscape constructed in situ for our project at Circus Lane.
Originally, the stair was to be a proprietary winder connecting the upper floors but the architects in collaboration with our own design team decided to design their own stair.
The result was something much more intrinsic to the general design of the house, a piece of furniture in its own right, which was sculpted to service each of the four different levels within the property.
The steps were constructed from a central steel spine. A sub frame was built in timber and ply and then solid Oak treads and landings were fitted, each shadow gapped from the adjacent walls. Perhaps the single most difficult item was the winding handrail also in Oak and it carries a continuous illuminated rope light fitting concealed at the back.
