English Stair

English Stair
English Stair

This stair was constructed in our workshops for private clients living just across the border.

The stair was designed by Sutherland and Hussey Architects.

It should be possible to make out from the pictures that the stair is fully cantilevered from the central timber spine which also supports a shallow bookcase.

The treads and risers are made from solid Ash 44mm thick and are so constructed as to resemble a continuous concertinered structure wrapping up and around the spine.

The stair was fully constructed in our workshop before being taken apart and assembled permanently on site in its English home.

A steel handrail was also supplied and fitted, built by Bow Engineering of Broxburn.
