Our project, a domestic house extension in the Marchmont area of Edinburgh, which was successfully completed at the end of last year was today featured in an article in the Sunday Times, Home Scotland supplement.
The article focused on the pros and pitfalls of the building process. Despite the inevitable initial drainage problems we came out of it lemon scented (or rose tinted - your choice)
The point is no-one can rip away a chunk of your house and replace it with something else without making a mess. Cleaning up afterwards (as it was drummed into me) is as important a part of the process as any other. Most builders manage to do this well and take a justifiable pride in their work. Problems can be as much the fault of poor design or unrealistic clients as bad workmanship.
Remember builders built the world and what is passed down to the future isn't just sketches and drawings but the things that are actually made from the craft of their hands. - Look around and see what builders did.
