Inscape have successfully negotiated a contract with Oliver Chapman Architects to refurbish a house at West Mayfield, Edinburgh.
The Georgian town house was built around 1830 and is a grade B listed building which forms part of a near symmetrical classical terrace. The works comprise reconnecting the basement level to the main house. A large internal slapping on the ground floor will create a new kitchen dining space engaging with the rear garden. This relationship is further enhanced by the creation of an oak clad deck and external stair. A cantilevered fixed seat, also clad in oak boards, is suspended above a new stone terrace.
As part of the work the roof is being resurfaced and a new oval cupola replaces the existing deteriorating one. The dressed ashlar stonework on the front elevation and the random rubble on the rear elevation are also to be repaired and repointed.
