Inscape have begun work on a garden room extension in Viewforth, Edinburgh for Alan Murray Architects. Alan Murray Architects are one of Edinburgh's leading architectural practices and we look forward to working with them on this project.
The extension will provide a new family room linking kitchen, dining and garden areas.
The new contemporary design replaces a single storey 'out-building' only slightly extending the existing footprint without overtly impacting on the surrounding context and neighbouring building.
The extension will create a clear view through to the well used family garden, this is achieved with minimal internal alterations clearly defining a 'spine' to the ground floor with family rooms branching off it.
One of the key features to the new structure is the zinc clad asymmetric roof.
This shape reflects the attached neighbouring roof form and helps define the difference between working/kitchen space and the calm/living space.
