Steve Evans from Inscape Joinery attended the annual ceremony for the Saltire Society Housing Awards at Glasgow's Lighthouse on Thursday 2nd November with architect's Richard Murphy and Bill Black.
Two projects from the offices of Richard Murphy were shortlisted as potential award winners, 10 Regent Terrace Mews and 10a Circus Lane. Both of which were built by Inscape and both are featured elsewhere on this website.
We were delighted to receive Commendation Certificates for the two projects which were presented by the evening's guest of honour, Rhona Brankin MSP, Deputy Minister for Environment and Rural Development.
However the highlight of the evening came when Inscape was named the Award Winner of 'The Good Building Award' for the project at 10a Circus Lane. This was awarded by the Chartered Institute Of Building Scotland and presented by the chair of their awards committee Alastair G W Wylie.
The award is offered purely on the quality of build and the craftsmanship of the builders. In issuing Inscape with the award Alastair said that the quality of all the Saltire Award Winning projects throughout Scotland were of such a high standard of workmanship this year that Inscape should be particularly proud to have received this honour.
Which we duly are and our gratitude in turn is directed at the craftsmen who work for us and those sub contractors who made their own special contribution to the work.
The Saltire Society itself was founded in the 1930's and the housing award first presented in 1937. The aim of the society is to promote all aspects of Scottish Culture including its history and the environment and to preserve all that is best in Scottish Tradition and to encourage every new development which can strengthen and enrich the country's cultural life.
This is the second time in four years Inscape has been the recipient of this prestigious award.

Well done dad.
Well deserved, i'd say! These are 2 of my favourite RMA-Inscape collaborations. |
