Inscape Joinery "Begin with the end in mind"

Dear Inscape Joinery people,

I'm sure he won't remember this, but thirteen years ago, Steve (working with Richard Murphy) did up an Edwardian house I'd just bought at 70 Grange Loan, and did a wonderful job.

Now we've just sold that and bought a big Victorian double upper in Mayfield Terrace, and that needs doing up too.

Most of the work is pretty standard stuff, lots of different things that need fixing, moving or replacing and we would like someone to co-ordinate the work. But the sitting room is a different case. It's quite a large room with the usual bay window and shutters, but it's very plain inside. I would like to make it into a grand Victorian sitting room. This, I think, will involve a picture rail or something like that to make the walls less boring, an ornate cornice, a ceiling rose, and a fine fireplace to replace the 'living flame gas fire'.

Is this something you might be interested in?

Or do you think we should first find ourselves an architect who is interested in Victorian interiors? (If so, any ideas? not Richard Murphy I suppose!)

I'd be grateful for any ideas. We'd like the work to start in the middle of August.

And if Steve is there - hello from me, and thank you, the work on 70 Grange Loan didn't just look good, it lasted.

Yours,

Peter Dayan
