How much more difficult is it to build your own sliding patio doors than taking them off the peg?
Posted by David Thompson, Carlisle 05/05/03
Well, quite a bit more difficult and therefore more expensive. The point is, only do this if you're really not happy with them off the shelf or if you want something to fit a specific size. Once you take the decision to have them especially made, you're not then restricted to simply having them hinged. the cost won't be much different if they pivoted or if they slid or if they are folding/sliding. And that is the best reason for doing this - pure design.
